About The Aroidarium

Rare, unusual and variegated houseplants.

The Aroidarium is an independent UK houseplant business specialising in rare, unusual and variegated plants, with a particular passion for aroids and other sought-after tropical varieties.

Our aim is simple: to make interesting and harder-to-find houseplants more accessible to collectors and enthusiasts, without compromising on quality.

What Makes Us Different?

While many plant retailers focus primarily on sourcing and reselling plants, we take a different approach.

Alongside carefully sourcing plants from specialist growers, we invest in growing, establishing and propagating our own stock.

Many of our plants begin as part of our growing collection, where they're given the time to mature, develop healthy root systems and eventually become mother plants from which we can propagate future generations.

By continually growing and propagating desirable varieties, we aim to reduce their cost over time, allowing us to offer plants at more affordable prices.

It's a slower process than simply importing and reselling, but it's an important part of what we're building.

Grown With Patience.

Our growing collection is constantly evolving, with everything from freshly rooted cuttings to established specimens being cultivated behind the scenes.

We don't work to a fixed release schedule. Instead, plants are made available when we feel they're sufficiently established enough and ready for their next home.

This means our website regularly features small batches, individual specimens and new varieties, with availability changing as our plants grow.

Some plants may be available in larger numbers, while others might only appear occasionally.

Carefully Sourced and Selected.

While growing and propagating our own plants is a significant part of what we do, we also work with specialist growers and suppliers across Europe and Asia to bring exciting varieties to our customers.

From time to time, we offer imported plants directly for sale, particularly when demand is high or certain varieties are not yet available through our own propagation programme.

This allows us to offer a wider selection of rare and unusual houseplants while continuing to develop our own growing collection.

Alongside our plants, we offer a carefully selected range of specialist substrates, fertilisers, growing accessories and supports, chosen for their practical use in helping houseplants thrive.

Growing Something Different.

The Aroidarium is more than just an online plant shop.

We're continually expanding our growing collection, establishing new mother plants and working towards making more unusual varieties available at accessible prices.

Whether you're an experienced collector searching for something special or just beginning to explore the world of unusual houseplants, we hope to make discovering and growing them a little easier.

Rare plants shouldn't have to remain out of reach.
